MEET AMY SOUTHERS

Amy Southers is a New York City based dancer, singer, and actress. Amy hails from Detroit, Michigan where she was dual enrolled and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) along with her Communications & Marketing Degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).

In her senior year, Amy received a WOW award in recognition of Outstanding Achievement in Performance. She has had the opportunity to perform works and train with: Desmond Richardson & Dwight Rhoden (Complexions Contemporary Ballet), Trey McIntyre, Meg Paul (Twyla Tharp/The Joffrey Ballet), Nick Cave, Liz Schmidt, Sonya Tayeh, Nathan Trice, Nicholas Leichter, Biba Bell, Jeff Rebudal, amongst others. She has worked nationally and internationally across the worlds of dance and theater, and is also an accomplished and proud teacher.

Amy has performed throughout the Detroit Metro Area such as at the Music Hall. Additionally, she has performed at Symphony Space in New York City, Radio City Music Hall, NYU Skirball and at the Javits Center. She has attended The Rockettes Summer Intensive – Invitational Week and completed the Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester, she began actively training and working at Broadway Dance Center.

She has also had the opportunity to work at and continue her studies at Broadway Dance Center while assisting various choreographers. Southers’s most recent credits include performances on Good Morning America, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Dance for Kindness Flash Mob Tutorial in partnership with YouTube.
